Dr. Ruby E. Powell, once a single mother, is the Founder of the Oasis Empowerment Zone, Inc. (NFP), a 501(c)3 non profit organization that specializes in providing single mothers with resources, tools  and life empowerment through workforce development opportunities, workshops, low to no cost (income based) life and business coaching, and networking opportunities.  The motto of the Oasis Empowerment Zone is, “Where dreams become visions, visions become goals, and goals become reality!” The Y.M.E.N.T.O.R. program (Young Mother’s Educational Network for Teaching, Outreach, and Resources) is a subsidiary of Oasis Empowerment Zone, Inc. (NFP).  Through this program, young mothers between the ages of 12 and 25 receive individual strength-based, outcome-driven mentoring services from trained mentors.  Dr. Powell has dedicated more than 35 years of her life serving the needs of children and families plagued by abuse, neglect, mental illness, substance abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic violence.  Dr. Powell specializes in life and business coaching, staff development, program development, training and workshop development.

Dr. Powell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice/Pre-Law from the University of Illinois-Chicago, a Master's of Science degree in Psychology/Community Counseling and Guidance from Chicago State University, and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership/Curriculum and Instruction from the School of Advance Studies at the University of Phoenix.
